SILVIS, Ill. — In his final round as a member of the Fire, Carlos Ardila finished with a score of 75 to finish in a tie for 14th place at the NAIA National Championship.
For his efforts, he was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row.
During the 72nd hole of the weekend, battling an injury, Ardila reached the Par 4 18th green in two shots, and made birdie on a hole he was two-over on for the week.
The Cucunta, Colombia native picked up two birdies and two bogeys to reach the ninth at even, but ended up with a double bogey after an approach shot went left into a hazard.
Ardila bounced back by making par on four straight holes on the back nine. Following bogeys on 14, 15, and 16, the two-time All-American made par on the 550-yard Par 5 17th to set up the birdie on 18.
During this past season, Ardila medaled twice, and placed 13th at the Latin America Amateur Championship.
