Bethel Softball Stays Close to Home with Two Signings

Mishawaka, Ind. – Bethel softball head coach Scott Reese is excited to announce the signing of Gabby Perkins (Elkhart, Ind.; pictured left) and Jacki Nate (Stevensville, Mich.; pictured right) to national letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Bethel College in the fall of 2017.

Perkins, daughter of Le Ann Perkins, is an outfielder and catcher from Jimtown High School (Ind.). Perkins helped lead the Jimmies to the NIC Northern Division championship and an appearance in the sectional title game. Limited to only 30 plate appearances last season, Perkins tallied six RBIs with two doubles and had an on-base percentage of .267.

“I am excited to see where these four years at Bethel take me,” exclaimed Perkins.

Nate, daughter of Mark and JoAnn Nate, is a utility infielder from Lakeshore High School (Mich.). Nate spent last season at Kellogg Community College (KCC) in Battle Creek, Mich. and will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Pilots.

Nate averaged .331 with two triples and 40 RBIs at KCC, earning MCCAA All-Conference honors. As a prep athlete, Nate was a four-year varsity starter, earning All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors during her time at Lakeshore. Nate racked up 161 hits and added 110 RBIs and 124 runs scored throughout her career and helped lead the Lancers to a state championship in 2014.

“As soon as I stepped on campus, I instantly loved it,” noted Nate. “It is so beautiful and everyone was so welcoming. It already feels like home.”
