Bethel Women’s Softball falls to No. 11 Marian University

MISHAWAKA, Ind. –The Bethel Pilots (7-15, 2-6) fell to the No. 11 Marian University Knights (19-3, 9-1) on Friday at Gardner Field.

GAME ONE (10-1 L)

In the bottom of the first, Alyssa Forys got the Pilots on base with a double to left field. She then advanced to third on a passed ball.

Jordan Markley grounded out to the shortstop, and Forys scored on Marian’s throw.

The Pilots trailed 2-1 after the conclusion of the first inning.

Defensive errors hindered the Pilots in the first game, as Bethel totaled five and Marian recorded none.

Harmony Looney pitched for two innings and threw 60 pitches.

Natalee McNeil pitched for 1.1 innings and threw 37 pitches.

Cassidy Ostema pitched for 1.2 innings and threw 23 pitches.

GAME TWO (4-0 L)

In the second game of the afternoon, Bethel decreased their defensive errors (one) but struggled to find a batting rhythm.

The Pilots posted three hits, and the Knights recorded ten.

Ryen Clair pitched for four innings and threw 59 pitches.

Haylee Allen pitched for three innings and threw 45 pitches.

The Pilots will next compete against the Taylor University Trojans at Gudakunst Field on March 25 at 3:00 PM.
