Crews Earns Second Straight Player of the Week Nod
Â
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of November 5 – November 11. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners. Men’s basketball sophomore Trevion Crews took home the honors for Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
Crews led the Pilots to a 3-0 week and averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, while shooting 5-11 from the three-point line and 19-22 from the free throw line. In an 80-68 win over (RV) Roosevelt, Crews recorded the fifth triple-double in program history with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Through seven games to start his Pilot career, the sophomore has the second-most total assists (43) and third-most total points (140) in program history. Crews joins William Walker (Jan. 13, 20, 2008) and Matt Schauss (Dec. 8, 15, 2014) as the only Pilots to win consecutive League Player of the Week awards in program history.
It is the 12th Crossroads League Player of the Week honor for the Bethel Pilots in 2018-19 and the third accolade for Crews this season, who already has one Crossroads League Player of the Week and NCCAA National Student-Athlete of the Week to his name.
