SOUTH BEND — Sophomore guard Aubrie Booker turned in a career performance Wednesday night, pouring in 30 points as IU South Bend battled in its home opener against Spring Arbor inside the Student Activities Center. Despite Booker’s scoring surge, the Titans fell 85-73 to the visiting Cougars.

Booker shot an efficient 11-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and added seven rebounds and two steals. Her 30 points surpassed her previous career high of 20, set last season as a freshman, and she has now opened the 2025-26 campaign with three-consecutive double-digit scoring games.

Spring Arbor found small advantages through the first three quarters to lead by six points after one stanza, eight points after two, and nine after three.

The Titans (1-2) entered the fourth quarter down 58-49 and it only got worse before getting better. As the clock ticked past five minutes left and down by 12, the Titans kicked it into high gear. A 9-1 run brought the host squad within one possession with three minutes to go.

IU South Bend’s momentum, however, was halted as the Cougars (2-0) answered with key free throws down the stretch. Spring Arbor rebuilt its lead and sealed the win.

Bradie Chambers provided balance for IUSB with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Ava Grant added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Kenzie Fulks chipped in 10 points and six made free throws, and Tenleigh Phelps led all players with seven assists.

The Titans were efficient offensively, shooting 52.1% from the field and 38.9% from long range, but were undone by 22 turnovers that Spring Arbor converted into 21 points.

IU South Bend will look to bounce back next Wednesday, November 12 when it plays Lawrence Tech at 5:30 pm.
