Bush joins HU’s 1,000-point club

FOR RELEASE February 22, 2018
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University senior Mike Bush became the 47th Forester to eclipse the 1,000-point mark Wednesday night in his team’s 102-91 win over Marian in first round action of the Crossroads League Tournament.

The 5-7 floor general entered the night with 997 points and 90 seconds in, he drained his first of five triples to join the exclusive club. Bush finished the night with a season-best 34 points to lead the Foresters to the upset win.

As the 5th seed, Huntington booted the 4th-seeded Knights out of the tourney and will now advance to the semis on Saturday where they will face top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m.

In Bush’s two years in Forester green and white, he has accumulated 1,031 points and boasts a career average of 16.6 points per outing. While the South Bend native is a proven scorer, it’s his ability to distribute the ball that has garnered him national attention. For the past two seasons, Bush has led the nation in assists.

To date, Bush has handed out 584 dimes for a career average of 9.4 assists per night. His 317 assists last year set a new school record for assists in a season. He also holds the program record for assists in a game with 18, a feat accomplished against Wright State Lake on December 17, 2016.

The Foresters are currently 14-17 on the year with eight of those Ws coming in the last 11 outings.
