The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are South Bend Riley senior basketball player Jalen Jennings and Washington Township senior basketball player Colin Burton.
In Friday’s 76-64 upset of top-ranked (Class 3A) Mishawaka Marian, the 5-foot-8 Jennings tallied 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-6 from 3-point range. He also had four assists and three steals for the Wildcats (11-2). For the season, Jennings is averaging 18.6 points, 5.9 assists, 3.7 steals, and three rebounds per contest.
In Friday’s 75-72 victory over No. 2 (Class 1A) and previously unbeaten Kouts, the 5-foot-10 Burton netted a game-high 28 points, including six key free throws down the stretch to help the Senators (8-3) occupy the top spot in the Porter County Conference standings heading into this week’s PCC conference tournament. Burton also scored 20 points in Tuesday’s 77-69 loss to Marquette Catholic.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
