The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Crown Point sophomore basketball player Lily Stoddard and Mishawaka senior wrestler Jacob LaPlace.
In Friday’s Hall of Fame Classic championship game at New Castle High School, the 6-foot-3 Stoddard netted a career-high 20 points and also pulled down a career-best 15 rebounds to help the No. 3 (Class 4A) Bulldogs (12-0) to a 49-37 win over No. 7 (Class 4A) Penn to snap the Kingsmen’s 51-game regular season winning streak, which was the seventh longest in IHSAA girls’ basketball history.
On Saturday at the 42nd Al Smith Classic held at Mishawaka High School,, LaPlace claimed his second straight title by pinning Northridge’s Ibrahim Khaoucha at the 3:23 mark in the 195-pound championship match to help the Cavemen to a fourth-place finish The Indiana Tech recruit had won the 182-pound title a year ago.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
