The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Chesterton senior swimmer Andrew Alders and Mishawaka Marian freshman basketball player Nevaeh Foster..
At Saturday’s Duneland Athletic Conference championship meet held at Valparaiso High School, Alders set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.03 seconds. He also won the 100 freestyle and was part of two winning relay teams, including the 200 medley relay which also set a meet record with a time of 1:33.22. The Trojans won the team championship for an eye-popping 24th straight year.
In Tuesday’s 70-39 win over Bremen, the 5-foot-8 standout tallied 28 points and established a new record for points scored in a season. She surpassed the previous mark of 448 points set by Alex Bousquet in 2010. Foster also added 18 points in Friday’s 49-45 win over Elkhart Central to give her 484 total points heading into the state tournament. The Knights (19-5) go after their third straight Class 3A sectional title starting Wednesday against host John Glenn (9-13).
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
