by | Feb 5, 2018 | Headlines, RRSN News | 0 comments

The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Marquette Catholic junior center Emma Nolan and Mishawaka Marian senior guard Meghan Urbanski.  In Tuesday’s 69-10 win over Washington Township in the opening game of the Class 1A Morgan Township Sectional, the 6-foot-2 Nolan scored 25 points on 11-of-16 shots from the field. She also knocked down all three of her free throws, pulled down seven rebounds, and came up with four steals. In Friday’s 63-21 semifinal round victory over Westville, Nolan tallied 30 points, hitting 10-of-17 field goal attempts, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked two shots. Then in Saturday’s 68-31 win over the host Cherokees, she helped the Blazers to their third consecutive sectional championship with 33 points and 13 rebounds. An interesting side note is that Nolan outscored all three opponents Marquette Catholic faced all by herself. The Blazers (23-2) advance to meet Oregon-Davis (13-12) in the second game of this Saturday’s Caston Regional.

In Saturday’s 43-38 overtime victory over host John Glenn in the Class 3A sectional final, the 5-6 Urbanski netted 19 points to help the Knights claim the program’s first sectional crown. She added 21 points in Friday’s 82-35 win over Jimtown in the semifinal round and chipped in 12 points in a 47-22 victory over New Prairie in Tuesday’s opener. Mishawaka Marian (21-4) moves on to meet No. 1 Northwestern (25-1) this Saturday in the opener of the Twin Lakes Regional.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
