The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Knox senior softball player McKenzie McIntire and Crown Point senior pitcher Ryan Fender.
In Friday’s 5-0 blanking of North Judson, McIntire set a school-record by striking out the first 10 batters she faced and went to toss a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts over seven innings. In Monday’s 10-0 shutout of Westville, she allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters over four innings and also helped he cause with two hits. Then, in Saturday’s 18-1 triumph over Plymouth, she registered nine more strikeouts and allowed just one hit over three innings for the Redskins (4-0).
In Tuesday’s 11-3 win over No. 5 (Class 4A) and previously unbeaten Lake Central, Fender surrendered three unearned runs on just two hits with 13 strikeouts and one walk over six innings to improve to 3-0 on the season for the top-ranked (Class 4A) Bulldogs (10-1).
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
