The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Morgan Township junior softball player Emily Wells and Penn senior baseball player Hayden Berg.
In Friday’s 3-2 come-from-behind win over Andrean, Wells accounted for the game-winning home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The talented catcher also belted another homer in Saturday’s 5-2 victory over Wheeler and is now batting .357 for the season with three home runs and six RBIs for the Cherokees (4-1).
In Saturday’s 8-4 win over Carmel, Berg picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks over four innings. He also helped out his own cause with two hits and three RBIs, including a triple. In Friday’s 5-4 triumph against Carroll (Fort Wayne), the Western Michigan University recruit chipped in two hits, including a double, for the top-ranked (Class 4A) Kingsmen (3-0).
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
