The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Chesterton junior runner Braden Corzan and LaPorte senior softball player Reily Galloway.

After claiming wins in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter relay, and 1,600-meter relay in last week’s Duneland Conference track and field championship, Corzan repeated his accomplishments in this past Thursday’s Portage Sectional. He won the 100 with a time of 11.17 seconds, the 200 in a time of 22.25 seconds, and was part of the winning 400-relay (42.21 seconds) and 1,600-relay (3.24.06) teams. This helped the Golden Trojans to a second-place finish with 128.5 points behind champion Portage, which had 150.3 points.

In Thursday’s 14-0 blanking of Elkhart Central, the Western Michigan recruit threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 12 of the 15 hitters she faced, including the last 10 in a row. She was also 1-of-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. She also came on in relief to pitch four shutout innings in Monday’ 6-4 loss to South Bend Adams. Then in Friday’s 14-0 shutout of John Glenn, Galloway threw two no-hit innings with six strikeouts and was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Slicers (17-11), who will meet top-ranked Penn Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 4A Penn Sectional.
