The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Crown Point junior golfer Yianni Kostiuros and Penn senior softball player Danielle Watson.

In Wednesday’s Duneland Conference meet at the Brassie Golf Course in Chesterton, the Ball State recruit shot a 5-under par 67, which included one bogey, four birdies, and one eagle, helping him to medalist honors by four strokes.  His score was even more remarkable since the final six holes were played in a steady rain. It was the best score Kostiuros has posted in a tournament this year. The Bulldogs claimed the team title with a team score of 302, which outdistanced second place Chesterton, which had a score of 309.

In Tuesday’s 5-0 blanking of LaPorte in the Class 4A Penn sectional semifinals, the Louisville-bound right-hander tossed her 15th career no-hitter and recorded 16 strikeouts over seven innings. Then in Thursday’s 10-0 five-inning victory over South Bend Adams in the championship game, Watson recorded the first perfect game of her career and fanned 10 of the 15 batters she faced to help the top-ranked (Class 4A) Kingsmen (26-1) to their fourth straight sectional crown. Penn travels to Northridge for Tuesday’s regional final.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
