SEPTEMBER 22
Boston College (3-0) at Purdue (0-3) (Noon): The Eagles and Purdue are meeting for the first time on the football field. Anthony Brown was 16-of-25 for 304 yards and five touchdowns in Boston College’s 41-34 win at Wake Forest. David Blough earned Big 10 player of the week accolades by going 39-of-55 for 572 yards and three touchdowns in the Boilermakers’ 40-37 loss to Missouri.
Notre Dame (3-0) at Wake Forest (2-1) (Noon): The Fighting Irish posted a 48-37 victory over Wake Forest a year ago. Drue Tranquil registered nine tackles for Notre Dame in its 22-17 win over Vanderbilt. Matt Colburn ran 23 times for 117 yards and a touchdown for the Demon Deacons against Boston College.
DePauw (1-1) at College of Wooster (1-2) (1 p.m.): The Tigers clawed their way to a 51-24 win against Wooster last season. Cam Haynes completed 11-of-13 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns in DePauw’s 45-7 victory over Hiram. Antonio Bailey ran 22 times for 69 yards in the Ohio-based Fighting Scots’ 9-7 loss to Ohio Wesleyan.
Lindenwood-Belleville (0-3) at Indiana Wesleyan (2-1) (1 p.m.): Dennis Chester went 11-of-22 for 175 yards with a score in the Illinois-based Lynx’s 33-14 loss to Saint Xavier. Gabriel Birkhim had 15 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats in an 80-6 decision over Trinity Bible.
Anderson (0-3) at Defiance (0-3) (1:30 p.m.): The Yellow Jackets from Ohio blanked Anderson, 45-0, last year. Travis McGuire was 22-of-38 for 237 yards with a touchdown and ran 16 times for 49 yards and a score in the Ravens’ 51-27 loss to Franklin. Jacob Vorce had nine catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns for Defiance in a 57-26 loss to Manchester.
Hanover (0-2) at Bluffton (1-2) (1:30 p.m.): The Panthers held on for a 31-28 win over Bluffton a season ago. Jared Frank came up with four receptions for 52 yards and two scores in Hanover’s 27-18 loss to Thomas More. Trenton Besgrove was 9-of-16 for 198 yards and two touchdowns for the Ohio-based Beavers in a 34-0 win over Earlham.
Saint Francis (3-0) at Saint Xavier (2-2) (2 p.m.): The two-time defending NAIA national champion Cougars rolled to a 48-23 win against Saint Xavier last season. P.J. Dean rambled 11 times for 154 yards and three scores in Saint Francis’ 60-14 win over St. Ambrose. Alex Martinez went 16-of-24 for 315 yards and three touchdowns for the Illinois-based Cougars against Lindenwood-Belleville.
Truman State (0-3) at Valparaiso (0-2) (2 p.m.): The Bulldogs from Missouri and Valparaiso are playing on the gridiron for the first time. Brass Woods came up with seven catches for 88 yards in Truman State’s 21-20 loss to Saginaw Valley State. Griffin Norberg recorded five receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown in the Crusaders’ 42-7 setback to Youngstown State.
William Jewell (0-2) at Indianapolis (1-1) (2 p.m.): The Greyhounds cruised to a 42-3 win over William Jewell a season ago. William Schneider went 16-of-33 for 203 yards in the Missouri-based Cardinals’ 58-17 loss to Findlay. Toriano Clinton had 14 rushes for 131 yards and a touchdown for Indianapolis in its 28-6 win over Wayne State.
Mount St. Joseph (2-1) at Earlham (0-3) (2:30 p.m.): The Quakers suffered a 66-7 loss to Mount St. Joseph a year ago. A.J. Glines racked up 14 catches for 268 yards and four touchdowns for the Ohio-based Lions in a 54-35 win over Rose-Hulman. Rance Albert tallied 12 tackles for Earlham against Bluffton.
Western Kentucky (0-3) at Ball State (1-2) (3 p.m.): The Hilltoppers marched past Ball State, 33-21, last year. Davis Shanley completed 22-of-33 passes for 240 yards and a score in Western Kentucky’s 20-17 loss to Louisville. Corey Lacanaraia had four receptions for 40 yards in the Cardinals’ 38-10 loss at Indiana.
Olivet Nazarene (1-2) at Marian (2-0) (6:05 p.m.): The Knights crowned Olivet Nazarene, 40-21, in their last meeting. Jayvion Daniels romped 19 times for 145 yards with a touchdown in the Illinois-based Tigers’ 27-18 loss to Concordia (Michigan). Brandon Dillon hauled in six passes for 121 yards and a score in Marian’s 51-7 triumph over Robert Morris.
Manchester (1-2) at Rose-Hulman (0-3) (7 p.m.): The Fightin’ Engineers ran past Manchester, 44-13, a year ago. Donovan Henderson Jr. scampered 25 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns for the Spartans against Defiance. Noah Thomas grabbed eight passes for 146 yards and a score for Rose-Hulman against Mount St. Joseph.
Michigan State (1-1) at Indiana (3-0) (7:30 p.m.): The Spartans edged Indiana. 17-9, last season. Cody White had eight catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in Michigan State’s 16-13 loss at Arizona State. Ronnie Walker Jr. ran nine times for 41 yards and a score for the Hoosiers against Ball State.
