Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top performers from the week of November 6 through 12. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s Sports Information Director.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Bryce Lienhoop, Saint Francis

Lienhoop led No. 3 Saint Francis to wins over No. 4, No. 9 and No. 21 with 26.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game for the Cougars. Lienhoop also connected on 75.6 percent of his attempts from the field and 84.2 percent of his free throws.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Dejah Cyrus, Marian

Cyrus averaged a double-double over three games for No. 1 Marian, netting 16.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, while shooting 51.2 percent. Cyrus posted 17 points and 13 boards in a win over No. 11 and had 18 points and eight caroms in a loss to No. 5.

 

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kurt Hamlin, Grace
Hamlin posted 11 saves to lead Grace to a 4-3 overtime win at No. 21 Spring Arbor for the Crossroads League Tournament Championship and GC’s first appearance in the NAIA National Tournament since 1982.

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Damon Binkley, Grace

Binkley scored twice in Grace’s 4-3 overtime win over No. 21 Spring Arbor in the CL Tournament Championship match. Binkley’s second strike tied the game in the 71st minute, as the Lancers went on to win their first league championship since 1992.

 

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Ashley Timmons, Spring Arbor

Timmons helped No. 3 Spring Arbor hold off a strong challenge from No. 14 Marian in the CL Tournament Championship, making four saves, including a pair of game-preserving efforts late in regulation that allowed SAU to take a 2-1 double-overtime victory.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Renee Broekhuizen, Spring Arbor

Broekhuizen had a part in both of No. 3 Spring Arbor’s goals in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over No. 14 Marian. The senior midfielder scored on a diving header to tie the game in the 71st minute and assisted the golden goal to lift SAU to an eighth-straight CL Tournament Title.

Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Morgan Miller, Indiana Wesleyan

Miller led RV Indiana Wesleyan to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship with 5.0 kills per set on a blistering .527 percentage, while adding 0.8 blocks per set. Miller smashed 30 kills and committed only one error in IWU’s sweeps of Grace and Saint Francis.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Megan Graber, Indiana Wesleyan

Graber was a force at the net for RV Indiana Wesleyan in its CL Tournament sweeps of Grace and USF for the league title. Graber had at least five blocks in each match, averaging 1.83 blocks per set to go with 2.0 kills per set in the two victories.

 

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Emily Workman, Indiana Wesleyan

Workman guided the dominant Wildcat attack in a pair of sweeps for RV Indiana Wesleyan to conclude the CL Tournament, tossing up 6.8 assists per set in the two-setter system. Workman closed the tournament with 22 assists in IWU’s championship clinching win over USF.
