Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top performers from the week of November 27 through December 3. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s Sports Information Director.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Derek Hinen, Saint Francis

Hinen averaged 29.5 points and 7.0 assists per game for No. 3 Saint Francis, while shooting 63.3 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the three-point line in wins over Marian and Goshen. Hinen made national headlines in USF’s double overtime win over MU, sinking the game-winner to make Sportscenter’s Top-10 Plays and finishing with 35 points and eight assists.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Ignasiak led No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan to league wins over Goshen and Huntington by averaging 16.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game, while shooting 61.9 percent from the floor. Ignasiak posted a double-double in each contest and excelled with 23 points, 10 boards, four blocks and two steals to go with 11-of-15 shooting in a one-point win at Huntington.
