Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week

 

INDIANAPOLIS – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top student-athletes from the week of April 10 through April 16. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s Sports Information Director.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Brody Harris, Spring Arbor

Harris tossed a third-consecutive complete game, fanning eight Pilots and limiting Bethel to two earned runs on five hits over seven frames of SAU’s 13-2 victory.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Jordan Jackson, Marian

Jackson stayed red-hot at the plate for Marian, belting four more home runs and driving in 10, while scoring nine times and hitting safely in 10-of-20 at bats over six outings.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Kaisey Carson, Indiana Wesleyan
Carson went 3-0 and picked up two saves to play a factor in the circle in five-of-six wins on the week for IWU. Carson fanned 14 over 22 innings, allowing two runs and yielding just 14 hits.

 

Softball Player of the Week
Kaisey Carson, Indiana Wesleyan

Carson continued her barrage with the bat, hitting .667 with six extra-base hits, 11 runs scored and six runs driven in to help Indiana Wesleyan go 6-0 on the week.

 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mary-Kate McShane, Spring Arbor

McShane posted wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 9-0 shutout of Concordia in Spring Arbor’s lone match of the week.

 

Men’s Golf Player of the Week
Alec Dutkowski, Taylor

Dutkowski led No. 15 Taylor to a team victory at the Wildcat Cup with a second-place showing and followed with a first-place finish at Ball State’s Invite against 12 NCAA D-I lineups.

 

Women’s Golf Player of the Week
Raquel Helton, Taylor

Helton carded TU’s first-ever sub-par score with a second-round 71 to set a program record, while scoring a win at the Huntington Invite in Taylor’s first-ever team victory.

 

Men’s Outdoor T/F Field Athlete of the Week
Phillip Fox, Bethel

Fox won the decathlon and picked up the third-highest score in the NAIA this season with 6,273 points at the IWU Multi-Event. Fox won six-of-10 events to win the decathlon by 714 points.

 

Men’s Outdoor T/F Track Athlete of the Week
Daniel Garza, Spring Arbor

Garza logged a new personal-best time of 15:18.01 for the fifth-best time in SAU history and finished sixth-of-31 athletes in the 5,000-meter run at the Don Kleinow Invite.

 

Women’s Outdoor T/F Field Athlete of the Week
Ryann Laier, Spring Arbor

Laier took fourth-of-19 in the javelin with a toss of 30.15 meters at the Don Kleinow Invite for a new personal-best and the fifth-best mark in SAU history.

 

Women’s Outdoor T/F Track Athlete of the Week
Raven Arellano, Grace

Arellano set a new Grace record with a time of 18:14 in the 5,000-meter run, finishing fourth-of-24 for the Lancers at the Don Kleinow Invite.
