Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 11-17

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of March 11 through 17. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Justin Pettit, Taylor
Pettit did not surrender an earned run over two starts for No. 22 Taylor, going 1-0 with 10 strikeouts and only four hits allowed in 8.2 innings of work in two TU victories.

Baseball Player of the Week
Noah Freimuth, Saint Francis
Freimuth hit .400 with four runs, one double and one home run to help Saint Francis to a 3-2 week. Freimuth also drove in four runs and posted a .733 slugging percentage.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Breena Smith, Marian
Smith fired two shutouts and one no-hitter as No. 5 Marian improved to 10-0 on the young season. Smith fanned 11 over 14 innings, winning twice and allowing only five hits and one walk.

Softball Player of the Week
Lizzie Meyer, Saint Francis
Meyer gathered 10 hits in 15 at bats for Saint Francis, hitting .667 with five runs, seven runs batted in and eight steals without getting caught in four games.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Hunter Sylvester, Marian
Sylvester went 4-1 at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 and 3 singles for No. 20 Marian, helping the Knights win three-of-four matches as a team.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Liza Lewis, Marian
Lewis won four total matches for Marian in Hilton Head, going 2-2 at No. 4 singles and 2-2 at No. 2 doubles for the Knights.
