Bethel baseball is pleased to announce that Luke Adams from Crown Point, Indiana, has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Bethel College beginning in the fall of 2017.
Adams, son of Doctor Lawrence and Patricia Adams, will graduate as a two-year letter winner for the Crown Point High School Bulldogs where he has spent time on the mound and playing middle infield. Last season, Adams had a standout season for the Bulldogs by recording 25 hits in 79 at bats and turning in a hitting percentage of .316. He also tallied a slugging percentage of .494 much in thanks to five triples that he blasted over the course of the campaign, tying a school record for triples in a single season. Overall, Adams was the top performer in total hits and finished second on the team in batting average and runs scored (16). In the season finale, Adams recorded two of the squad’s three hits against the 2015 IHSAA 3A State Champions, Andrean, in a 4-1 loss.
Earlier in his career, Adams helped the Crown Point freshman team to a 19-2 record, which is the best record in the history of the Bulldogs’ freshman program all while helping the team capture the Crown Point Tournament Championship. That season, he finished with a 4-1 personal record from the mound while hitting .409.
Adams also lays claim to a no-hitter thrown during the 2015 junior varsity season, a season which was shortened due to injury but not before the 5’9” right-hander could produce a 4-0 record from the hill.
Outside of high school baseball, Adams has competed for the Northwest Indiana Shockers, Indiana Prospects, and Northern Indiana Elite.
“The Bethel coaching staff was very personable and made me feel comfortable,” commented Adams. “They also made it possible for me to visit Bethel and encouraged me to invest my time in the recruit weekend, which allowed me to attend some classes and then scrimmage with the baseball team. It was during my initial visit that I felt the connection at Bethel College!” He also added, “Committing to attend Bethel College was an easy decision for me! It is what I wanted in a school. I remember feeling safe and secure and that the students, staff and administrators were very kind and helpful!”
