Early Goals Sink PNW Men’s Soccer in 2-0 Loss to Davenport
HAMMOND, Ind. – With both goals by Davenport University (Mich.) coming in the game’s first 30 minutes, the Purdue University Northwest men’s soccer team could not recover from the early deficit and fell 2-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action Wednesday afternoon at Pepsi Field at Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.

The first goal for the Panthers came in the 14th minute on a shot by Brogan Shrimpton from 10 yards out on the right side.  At the 30-minute mark, Stephen Carroll scored on a bicycle kick from the left side to put DU up 2-0.

Freshman midfielder Isaiah Nieves (Lyons Township, Ill./Lyons Township) and freshman forward Justin Barragan (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) each had a shot on goal for the Pride Wednesday.

Freshman goalkeeper Noel Keeble (Dyer, Ind./Home School) got his first career start for PNW and recorded six saves over 90 minutes.  Davenport improves to 6-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the GLIAC after Wednesday’s win.

Purdue Northwest (3-5-1 overall/2-4-0 GLIAC) heads to Ashland, Ohio, on Friday, October 6, for a conference game against Ashland University (Ohio).  The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET start at Ferguson Field.
