Edwards Named to Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue junior guard Carsen Edwards has been named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy watch list, the United States Basketball Writers Association announced today.
Edwards is one of 20 players to be named to the list. He is one of three players from Big Ten schools to be mentioned, joining Michigan’s Ignas Brazdeikis and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ.
Edwards has been named to every preseason watch list and was the leading vote-getter on the Associated Press’ preseason All-America team.
So far this season, Edwards ranks fourth in the country in scoring at 26.0 points per game, while adding 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. He ranks seventh nationally in 3-pointers made with 47.
He has scored at least 30 points in three different games this year, the third-highest total in the country. Edwards and Campbell’s Chris Clemons are the only players in America to have scored at least 19 points in every game played.
For his career, Edwards is averaging 16.2 points per game and has scored 1,358 career points to rank 26th in school history. His 193 career 3-pointers are the eighth most in school history. He has scored in double figures in 32 straight games and has a 3-pointer in 24 straight games, both streaks dating to last year.
Edwards and his teammates will host Belmont on Dec. 29, at 4:30 p.m. ET, in Mackey Arena.
