Grace’s season ends in league tourney
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Grace’s softball team came up one win short of reaching the last day of the Crossroads League Tournament.
The Lady Lancers (24-28) lost to Taylor 6-0 on Monday to officially wrap up the 2017 campaign under head coach Nora Reece.
Grace’s bats were hushed; the Trojans (38-15) held Grace to two hits while racking up 12 hits of their own.
Taylor jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, and Grace never threatened again. The Trojans tacked on a solo home run in the third inning and two more in the sixth.
The Lady Lancers had both of their hits by the second inning, including singles from Hannah Herbster and Kyleigh Garner.
Grace was unable to produce a hit over the final five innings in a losing effort.
The loss officially wraps up the career of graduating senior Clarissa Knight, who leaves Grace as the all-time leader in hits and doubles.
The Lady Lancers posted their fourth straight season with at least 20 wins.
