Huntington and Marian Set to Compete in NAIA Baseball Opening Round

KANSAS CITY – RV Huntington and Marian will represent the Crossroads League in the upcoming 45-team, nine-pod NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round from May 15-18.

RV Huntington (33-11) hauled in 71 points for the 26th-best tally in the latest poll and punched its ticket to the NAIA Opening Round by winning the Crossroads League Championship in the regular season and tournament. The Foresters claimed the third seed at the Montgomery Bracket and will open play on Monday at 3:30 pm ET against second-seeded and RV Saint Thomas.

Marian (29-21) went unranked all season but finished third in the Crossroads League and claimed the league’s second automatic bid by finishing runner-up to Huntington in the CL Tournament. The Knights earned the fifth seed in the Kingsport Bracket and will play fourth-seeded and unranked Talladega in their first contest on Monday at 11:00 am ET, with the winner advancing to take on top-seeded and No. 5 Keiser that evening.

Each of the five-team brackets will play out a double-elimination tournament, with the nine Opening Round winners advancing to play in the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series at Lewiston, Idaho on May 26 through June 2 along with host school Lewis-Clark State.
