Greenfield tabbed NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week

FOR RELEASE November 6, 2018
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University sophomore keeper Gabe Greenfield was tabbed the NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the national office earlier this afternoon.

It’s the first time in program history a Forester has garnered a national player of the week badge. The honor comes on the heels of two big wins last week in the Crossroads League Tournament.

In Wednesday’s quarterfinal match against 3rd-seeded Bethel, the 6th-seeded Foresters upset their hosts 2-1 with Greenfield earning the win in net. He turned in another spectacular performance in the semis on Saturday to help guide his team to a 3-1 victory over 7th-seeded Indiana Wesleyan.

For the week, Greenfield collected seven saves and upped his season win total to nine.

Huntington (10-7-3) will be playing in the Crossroads League finals for the first time in program history on Saturday at top-seeded Spring Arbor. Kick-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
