REGIONAL FINALS TIDBITS FOR GAMES (11/9/18)

- Class 6AÂ Â Â Â Crown Point at Valparaiso
—First all-DAC regional since 2006 (CP@LaPorte).
—Valpo has won 9 straight, including 38-7 win over CP in week 6.
—Valpo 13-1 vs DAC last two years, only loss was to CP in 2017.
- Class 6AÂ Â Â FW Snider at Carmel
—Rematch of last year’s regional, won by Carmel 22-21 in Fort Wayne.
— Carmel has won 20 regionals (tied for most), and Snider has 16 titles (8th most).
— Carmel has won 5 straight regionals, and 10 of the last 12 regional titles.
- Class 6A Warren Central at North Central (Indy)
—North Central in their first regional since 1993.
—Warren beat NC 58-27 in week 3 this season.
—North Central’s last loss was 41-40 in 3 OT to Carmel (only loss in last 8 games).
- Class 6A Avon at Center Grove
—Rematch from last year, won by Avon 32-21. CG beat Avon 35-34 in 2 OT in ’15 semis.
—Avon has won six regional titles, but has never played for a state title.
—Center Grove’s 3 losses are by teams still playing, and are a combined 31-3.
- Class 5A Concord at Michigan City
—Rematch from last year, won by the Wolves 21-7 @ Concord.
— MC has won seven straight, and has scored 40+ in all seven games.
— Concord is 4-0 against class 5A opponents this season.
- Class 5AÂ Â New Palestine at Lafayette Harrison
—Harrison in the regional for the first time since 1994.
— New Pal averages 63.2 ppg, and an average victory margin of 54 ppg (2nd to Pioneer).
— Harrison defeated New Pal in 1993 in their only previous meeting
- Class 5A Bloomington South at Decatur Central
—South is in the regional for the 5th straight year (2-2 in the previous four).
— DC is only in their second regional ever (2005), and have never won a regional title.
— South legend Mo Moriarty is three wins away from his 300th coaching victory.
- Class 5A Castle at Columbus East
—First ever meeting between these schools.
— East has won 10 straight games after an 0-2 start (lost to Whiteland & Columbus N)
— Castle’s only regional title since 1994 came in 2015 vs Bloomington South.
- Class 4A Lowell at Mishawaka
—Mishawaka is 2-0 vs Lowell all-time with wins in 2011 (35-14) & 2012 (27-0).
— Mishawaka has not lost this year in the state of Indiana (lone loss came at Marist).
— Lowell has won regional crowns the past two seasons.
- Class 4A Angola at FW Dwenger
—Rematch of last year’s regional won by Dwenger 34-0 (Angola was 12-0 then also).
— Angola’s lone regional title came in 1992 (at Griffith).
—Dwenger has won 20 regionals, tied with Carmel for the most in Indiana.
- Class 4A Mooresville at Marion
—First ever meeting between these schools.
—Long droughts for both schools-Mooresville’s last regional title was ’89, Marion ’90.
—Mooresville HC Mike Gillin is a member of the 300-win club, mostly at Indian Creek.
- Class 4A Evansville Central at East Central  SAT
—Rematch of last year’s regional won by the Trojans 35-13 en route to 4A title.
—Ev Cent coach Troy Burgess is in regional for third time in 4 years, other 2 at S Putnam.
—Trojans lone loss came in OH in week 2, Bears lone loss in week 7 to Memorial.
- Class 3A Brebeuf at West Lafayette
—Rematch of last year, won by Brebeuf 13-10.
—Fourth straight regional for W Lafayette, however they’ve lost the last two.
—Brebeuf’s only two regional titles came in years they lost in the state finals (’13 & ’17).
- Class 3A Mishawaka Marian at FW Luers
—Rematch of last year’s regional won by Marian 30-7, their lone win vs Luers in 5 tries.
—Three of Marian’s four regular season losses have come by 7 points or less.
—Luers has won 18 regional titles (tied for second best), but none since 2014.
- Class 3A Tri-West at Bishop Chatard
—Third meeting between these two, Chatard has won both previous meetings.
—Last week marked the first sectional title for Tri-West since their 2014 state title.
—Chatard has won 18 regionals but only one (2015) since 2012.
- Class 3A Brownstown at Evansville Memorial
—Only other meeting Brownstown won 30-7 in the 2016 regional.
—Memorial has won 20 straight games dating back to last year.
—Brownstown is just 3-10 all-time in regional games.
- Class 2A Whiting at Bremen
—Bremen is 5-1 all time vs Whiting.
—Bremen’s last regional appearance was a 28-21 loss to Whiting in 2015.
—Oilers are in their third regional in the past four years, Whiting won the other two.
- Class 2A Eastbrook at Lapel
—A rematch of their only previous appearance, Eastbrook won 56-26 last year.
—Lapel avenged a 45-point loss to Shenandoah with a thrilling 42-41 OT win last week.
—Eastbrook is 48-5 combined over the past four seasons.
- Class 2A Western Boone at Scecina
—Rematch of last year’s regional won by Scecina 48-33.
—W Boone is 0-3 in regionals since 1998 when they went to the state finals.
—Scecina has won seven regionals, and seeks their fourth in the last eight years.
- Class 2A Paoli at Southridge
—First meeting between these schools since the 2013 regional (Paoli won 24-20).
—Paoli was also unbeaten in 2009 when they beat Mater Dei in the regional final.
—Southridge has scored 35+ in four of their last five contests coming in.
- Class 1A Pioneer at Triton
—Top two teams in the Hoosier North Conference. Pioneer won 56-6 in week 6.
—Pioneer has won 27 straight games, longest current streak, and is 41-1 the last 3 yrs.
—Pioneer has scored 772 total points on offense, and has pitched 9 shutouts on D.
- Class 1A Adams Central at Monroe Central
—Monroe Central the defending champ of this regional, defeated Southwood last yr.
—Adams Central is 2-0 vs MC, the latest being a 15-12 sectional win in 2016.
—Adams Central has not scored fewer than 31 points in any game this season.
- Class 1A Indpls Lutheran at South Putnam
—Lutheran comes in on a 6-game winning streak.
—South Putnam had a 6-game LOSING streak, but has won four straight since then.
—South Putnam did not win a single conference game this year.
- Class 1A North Central (Farmersburg) at North Vermillion
—N Central is making their first regional appearance in school history.
—North Vermillion has a 27-6 record vs the T-Birds all-time.
—North Vermillion has won 8 straight since their lone loss to Linton-Stockton.
