Indianapolis, McKendree Garner Weekly Football Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis senior wide receiver Garrett Willis and freshman punt returner Daveon Bell, as well as McKendree University sophomore linebacker Ricco Gipson, have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Garrett Willis, Indianapolis
Sr., WR, St. Louis, Missouri
Team Result: 34-19 home win vs. Truman State
Amassed eight catches for a career-high 190 yards and two touchdowns
Averaged nearly 24 yards per catch
Down 10-0, Willis got the Hounds on the board with a 31-yard TD catch
Converted 3rd & 17 with a 52-yard reception, setting up his own 16-yard TD grab two plays later
Earns his first career Offensive Player of the Week award

Led all players with 14 tackles, including nine solo stops
Recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, including a quarterback sack
Helped limit reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Year T.J. Edwards to nearly 100 yards below his season passing average
Currently boasts team highs in tackles (55), TFL (9), and sacks (4)
Earns his first career Defensive Player of the Week award

Scored go-ahead touchdown with 86-yard punt return in second quarter
Return marked the second-longest punt return for a TD by a Greyhound since 1983 and top return in the GLVC this season
Finished with 116 all-purpose yards, including 17 rushing yards coming on lone carry
Earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week award
