WHITING, IN – After a four-match home stand the IU South Bend volleyball team went on the road and defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-15).
Calumet was able to score the first point of the match, but after that it was all Titans. A kill by Ashli Drewes (JR/New Buffalo, Michigan) put the Titans on the board and helped them build an early 10-3 lead in the first set. IU South Bend would go on to cruise for the remainder of the first set, winning 25-15.
IU South Bend was able to repeat the success they had in the first set in the second. Kills by Ashli Drewes, Jadalyn Tindall (SR/Fort Wayne, Indiana), Sydney Lubinski (SO/South Bend, Indiana), Ashley McClintock (SR/Westville, Indiana), and Morgan Fleming (JR/South Bend, Indiana) helped them gain a 10-3 advantage again. The Titans went on to win the set by a score of 25-15.
The third set followed a little different script as the Titans were only able to jump out to an early 9-3 lead. They would eventually extend their lead to 21-15. The Titans didn’t give Calumet a chance to comeback closing the set with a kill by Ashli Drewes, a service ace by Morgan Powell (FR/New Prarie, Indiana), and two kills by Madison Burger (SO/Indianapolis, Indiana) to win 25-15.
The Titans recorded 38 total kills led by Ashley McClintock who was responsible for 10 of them. Morgan Fleming was a close second recording 8 kills of her own.
Jadalyn Tindall led the team with 24 assists on the night, and Janelle Rehlander (SR/LaPorte, Indiana) had a team high 26 digs.
IU South Bend will return to the court when they host Governors State University on September 26.
