Busby’s Double Sends Baseball to Extra Inning Win at Taylor
UPLAND, Ind. – Steven Busby hit a two-out, two run double in the 10th inning as Indiana Wesleyan University baseball defeated Taylor (Ind.) 6-4 in 10 innings on Friday in Upland, Indiana. Taylor pulled even in the ninth inning to force extra innings but the Wildcats rebounded for their ninth win in 10 games.
BUSBY’S BIG BOP
Caleb Eder walked to leadoff the 10th inning and took second base on a Tye Thixton sac bunt. Following an intentional walk to Lucas Goodin, Tanner Killian popped out to second for the second out of the inning. Steven Busby delivered the game-winning hit with a double to deep right-center field for the 6-4 win.
STRONG START
Wildcat starting pitcher Jon Young produced another solid start on the mound. He allowed three runs on eight hits in 8.0 innings of work. He walked one and struck out four Trojans in a no-decision.
EXTRA BASE HITS
Taylor outhit Indiana Wesleyan 9-7 in the game. However, all nine Taylor hits were singles while Indiana Wesleyan had three extra base hits. Steven Busby had the big double in the 10th inning while Tanner Killian and Tye Thixton both hit triples. IWU had three RBI on the extra base hits and two of the Wildcats that had the hits wound up scoring.
NEXT FOR THE WILDCATS
The upcoming schedule for Indiana Wesleyan has seen a few changes. The doubleheader at Taylor (Ind.) scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to weather and has been moved to Monday, April 22 at Upland with a 2 p.m. start time. IWU was scheduled to host IU South Bend on Monday but that doubleheader has been canceled.
