INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Survive and advance is the postseason motto, and Indiana Wesleyan softball lived up to the hype. IWU trailed 4-0 headed into the sixth, but a four-run inning would square things up headed to the seventh against Huntington. Addie Benham would toe the rubber in relief for IWU in the seventh, producing a three up, three down inning, striking out two Foresters.
Benham would help her cause in the bottom of the seventh with a double to right field putting the winning run in scoring position. Mackenzie Brown would add more pressure singling to left field putting runners on first and third. Rebecca Schrad would walk things off with a double off the left-center fence giving IWU the 5-4 win.
INSIDE THE BOX
Lauren Buckley collected her 20th multi-hit game of the season, going 2-of-4 from the plate.
Benham pushed her hit streak to seven games Wednesday, with two or more hits in five of those games. In her last six games, Benham has produced 12 hits with a batting percentage of .545, a Wildcat-best over that span.
