Women’s Swimming Joins Mid-South Conference

MARION, Ind. – The Mid-South Conference has announced that Indiana Wesleyan University women’s swimming has been accepted as an associate member of the MSC.

“We are grateful and excited to be accepted into the Mid-South Conference as an affiliate member in women’s swimming,” said Director of Athletics Mark DeMichael. “The Mid-South Conference is one of the strongest conferences in the NAIA with institutions that represent quality and excellence in all that they do. We count it a privilege to compete and partner with these fine programs. ”

Indiana Wesleyan joins the Mid-South Conference as the Crossroads League does not sponsor swimming. IWU becomes the ninth program to join the Mid-South Conference in women’s swimming joining Bethel (Tenn.), Campbellsville (Ky.), Life (Ga.), Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Loyola New Orleans (La.), Midland (Neb.), and Cumberlands (Ky.).

2018-19 marks the second season in program history for Indiana Wesleyan. In the Wildcats’ inaugural season, Indiana Wesleyan competed as an independent and earned a 12th place finish at the NAIA National Championship.

“It is exciting to be a part of a large group of teams competing together for a conference title,” stated IWU head coach Laurissa Dalrymple. “It increases the level of competition and we are thrilled to have this new opportunity to compete, enjoy the sport of swimming, and represent Indiana Wesleyan in the Mid-South Conference.”

The Wildcats compete in their first conference championship meet on January 31-February 2 when the MSC Championship is held in Kingsport, Tennessee.
