Jones Tough; Purdue Northwest Drops 3-0 Decision to Wayne State
HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Wayne State University (Mich.) Friday night at the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hammond, Ind.

Wayne State jumped out to a hot start taking an early lead on the Black and Gold in Set 1, before defeating PNW 25-13 to take the early 1-0 advantage.

The Warriors won the second set, 25-8, before earning the Set 3 win, 25-11, to come away with the three-set victory.

Carissa Jones (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) led the Pride with seven kills, while Gabrielle Martin (DeMotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) finished the night with six kills.

Sophomore Brooke Ahrens (Covington, Ind./Covington) led the Black and Gold with 17 assists and eight digs, with Kayla Elsea (Palmyra, Ind./Crawford County) finishing with a pair of block assists.

Hailey Richardson led the way for Wayne State with seven kills and a .357 attack percentage, while Hannah Moore and Madelyn Krenz each finished with six kills to headline the Warriors offense.

The Pride return to action on Saturday, September 23, when they host Grand Valley State University (Mich.) in a GLIAC match beginning at 2:00 p.m. (CT) at the Fitness & Recreation Center.
