ONE STEP CLOSER TO INDIANAPOLIS

Andrean (19-8): Deshon Burnett accounted for 14 points in the 59ers’ 60-49 upset of No. 5 and defending champion Westview in the Class 2A North Judson title affair.

Culver Academy (23-3): Trey Galloway poured in 14 points for the No. 3 and defending state champion Eagles in their 62-41 decision over Hammond in the Class 3A Washington finale.

Penn (24-3): Drew Lutz accounted for 19 points, including the game-winning layup with 5.4 seconds left as the No. 9 Kingsmen claimed their first regional title since 2006 with a 74-72 win over Northridge in the Class 4A Michigan City final.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Argos (22-5): Owen Nifong ended up with 16 points for the No. 7 Dragons as they saw their season come to a close with a 77-39 setback to No. 1 Fort Wayne Blackhawk in the Class 1A Triton finale.

Marquette Catholic (16-9): Colin Kenney closed out his career with 26 points in the Blazers’ 71-70 loss to Andrean in Class 2A North Judson semifinals.

Northridge (19-9): Carter Stoltzfus’ 13 points was just not quite enough against Penn as the Raiders saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end.

Tippecanoe Valley (15-10): Parkur Dalrymple registered 11 points for the Vikings in their 54-28 setback to top-ranked Delta in the Class 3A Marion semifinals.

Westview (25-6): Charlie Yoder’s racked up 27 points against Andrean, but the Warriors could not overcome a case of food poisoning which limited them to just seven players.

FINAL FOUR BOUND

Andrean (19-8) vs. Frankton (23-3) (Class 2A Lafayette): The 59ers are in pursuit of their third semistate championship and first since 2000, while No. 4 Frankton last won in 2017 and is going for its third overall. Andrean has now earned seven regional titles, compared to just three for the Eagles.

Culver Academy (23-3) vs. Marion (19-7) (Class 3A Elkhart): The Eagles are going after their second straight semistate crown and third overall, while Marion has won 15 times with the last coming in 2016. Culver Academy has now claimed three regional titles, compared to 39 for the Giants.

Penn (24-3) vs. Carmel (24-1) (Class 4A Lafayette): The Kingsmen’s lone semistate title came in 2001, while top-ranked Carmel is looking for its second in a row and seventh overall. Penn captured its seven regional title, while the Greyhounds came up with their 10th championship.
