Marian’s Tipping Named the CL Male Athlete of the Year
JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced on Thursday that Isaiah Tipping of the Marian University men’s track and field program had been named the 2023-2024 CL Male Athlete of the Year.
Tipping led Marian to its best year ever in men’s track and field, posting a third-place finish at the NAIA Indoor National Championships and a program-best second-place finish at the Outdoor Championships. Tipping also helped the Knights to a pair of dominant team titles at the Crossroads League Indoor and Outdoor Championships, being named the MVP of the CL Outdoor Championships.
Tipping highlighted his phenomenal season with an individual title in the weight throw at the NAIA Indoor National Championships and also finished runner-up in the discus and third in the hammer. In all, Tipping picked up a trio of NAIA All-American honors, three individual CL Championships and four All-Crossroads League recognitions, while setting the Marian program records in the hammer and weight throw.
“I am so proud and excited for Isaiah Tipping on being selected as the Crossroads League Male Athlete of the Year,” said now-retired Marian track and field head coach Michael Holman. “It is well-deserved for Isaiah, who has been the backbone of the top-ranked throwing program in the NAIA. He is an outstanding young man and a great example of what it takes to be a Knight.”
The Crossroads League Male Student-Athlete of the Year award is nominated and voted on by the 10 Athletic Directors from the Crossroads League and announced each summer.
