Mesa Named Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week

LAKELAND, Fla. – After a memorable week at the plate, senior outfielder Manuel Mesa was named The Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

Mesa hit an electric .588 (10-17) at the plate this past week with six extra-base hits and a .632 on-base percentage. Versus Florida Memorial on Friday night, Mesa became the first SEU player since 2/21/2009 to hit for the cycle, accomplishing the feat in just four at-bats.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native was also a perfect 4-4 on stolen bases.

The Fire set their focus on a monumental road Sun Conference series this week, as No. 1 SEU heads to Miami Gardens to take on the No. 10 St. Thomas University Bobcats. Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
