Michigan State’s Lethemon claims first star after backstopping Spartans with 74 saves

 

First Star

John Lethemon, Michigan State

  • Led the Spartans to a 1-1 weekend at Wisconsin, highlighted by a shutout against the Badgers
  • Recorded his fifth shutout of the season on Friday, turning aside all 39 shots faced in a 4-0 win
  • Collected 35 saves on Saturday, allowing only two goals
  • Finished the series with 74 saves, a 1.03 goals-against average and a conference-leading .974 save percentage
  • The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree earns his fourth career weekly award

  • Tied with teammate Quinn Preston to lead the conference with four points on four assists in Ohio State’s weekend series against No. 18/- Notre Dame
  • Tallied two assists on Friday in the 4-4 tie, including the primary helper on the game-tying goal with 1:05 left in regulation to complete the three-goal comeback
  • Collected two assists in the 2-1 victory on Saturday, highlighted by setting up the game-winning goal
  • Earns his ninth career weekly honor

  • Led the Wolverines to a 1-0-1 weekend at No. 6/6 Penn State, highlighted by a career-high 45 saves on Saturday
  • Recorded his third shutout of the season on Friday, turning aside all 31 shots faced in a 6-0 victory
  • Finished the series with 76 saves and a 1.93 goals-against average to go along with a .950 save percentage
  • Earns his third career weekly award and second in as many weeks
