Nebraska and Ohio State Share Wrestler of the Week Honors

Huskers’ White and Buckeyes’ Martin each claim titles at Cliff Keen Invitational, share Wrestler of the Week plaudit

Isaiah White, Nebraska

165 pounds – Jr. – Chicago, Ill. – Oak Park and River Forest

 

  • Defeated three consecutive ranked opponents to claim the 165-pound individual title at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
  • Went undefeated through the day’s competition, posting a 5-0 record to become the first Husker to take home a title at Cliff Keen since Robert Kokesh in 2014
  • Defeated No. 12 Joey Gunther of Illinois (7-3), No. 5 Logan Massa of Michigan (6-2) and No. 14 Mekhi Lewis of Virginia Tech (2-0) in the finals
  • Earns the first Wrestler of the Week award of his career
  • Last Nebraska Wrestler of the Week: Mikey Labriola (Nov. 13, 2018)

 

Myles Martin, Ohio State

184 pounds – Sr. – Penns Grove, N.J. – McDonogh School

 

  • Defeated three consecutive ranked opponents to claim the 184-pound individual title and helped secure Ohio State’s third straight team title at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
  • Went undefeated through the day’s competition, claiming five wins from a decision, three major decisions and a pin at 2:25 in the round of 16 to earn the invitational’s Most Outstanding Wrestler honor
  • Defeated No. 16 Louie DePrez of Binghamton, No. 8 Max Dean of Cornell and No. 3 Taylor Venz of Nebraska in the finals
  • Earns the first Wrestler of the Week award of his career
