No. 16 USF (IL) women upend Holy Cross 64-59

Notre Dame, Ind. The Holy Cross College Saints took on CCAC league leader (15) University of St. Francis Fighting Saints this afternoon. The game came down to the final few minutes with the Fighting Saints going ahead to beat the Saints 64-59. Coming into the game, Holy Cross had a record of 13-14 overall and 10-7 in CCAC play, while St. Francis had a record of 19-7 overall and 14-3 in CCAC play. With the loss, Holy Cross falls to 13-15 overall, 10-8 in CCAC play and St. Francis improves to 20-7 overall with a record of 15-3 in CCAC play.

Key Notes of the Game:

– The Saints shot 40% from the field, while shooting 35% from 3 point range, while the Fighting Saints shot 39% from the field and only shot 28% from 3 point range

– The Fighting Saints were able to come back into the game as they took over the rebounding battle with a total of 36 to the Saints 33

– Despite the loss, the Saints were able to force 18 turnovers, 16 of which came from steals

By the Numbers:

– Alex Forster scored a team high of 18 points and had 5 assists

– Jessica Norris followed up with 15 points and had 5 assists, while Keysha Streater scored 12 and had 6 rebounds on the day

– Kaelyn Barlow led the team in rebounds with 9 and also led the team in blocks with 3

 

Next Up: The Saints next game is on Wednesday and keep their playoff hopes alive as they take on Trinity International University. The game is on the road for the Saints and tip off time is at 6:30pm
