MISHAWAKA, Ind. — It was a highly offensive match with the #3 Bethel Pilots (5-0-2) defeating the (RV) Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders 3-2 on Saturday in a high-scoring and avoided a comeback late in the match.

The first goal was netted in the 49th minute by Andres Gonzalez Maza from Miki Fujita’s touch in the box for Gonzalez Maza’s third goal of the season. Gonzalez Maza assisted Piero Sabroso’s goal in the 52nd minute to put the Pilots up 2-0, then in the 56th minute, Jelle Born maneuvers around a couple of defenders to score the third Pilot goal.

Lindsey Wilson fought back with Juliano Manfro’s goal in the 59th minute to end the shutout, then about two minutes late Jean-Wikes Dutreuil scored in the 61st minute to start the final push to tie the match. Tensions rose and the battle tightened with LWU forcing back-to-back corners that were well defended in the final minutes but BU took the win 3-2 for their fourth straight win since the Sept. 2 win over #21 Rio Grande (Ohio).

NEXT TIME OUT

The final non-conference match of the season comes Thursday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. against the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bees. The Fighting Bees are 0-2-1 on the season with their last match on Sept. 10 was a 2-1 loss to Mount Mercy.
