Men’s Soccer Defeats Parkside, 2-1
HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest men’s soccer team defeated Wisconsin Parkside, who sits in first place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, 2-1 at Dowling Park.
The Pride scored first in the 11th minute after Daniel Freedman (Newcastle, England/Monkseaton Academy) rocketed a ball just outside the 18-yard box to put the Pride ahead, 1-0.
Shortly after, the Rangers would even the match after a goal from Vic Vera tied the game at 1-1 in the 15th minute.
The Black and Gold would continue to attack Parkside, with a shot from Jaime Garcia (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) that hit off the left post found Justin Barragan (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) who knocked in the go ahead goal in the 37th minute.
Each team would have potential scoring chances halted in the second half, as the final 45 minutes of play were scoreless for both teams eventually leading to the 2-1 victory for the Pride.
Goalkeeper Bradley Brack (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville) played all 90 minutes for PNW and gathered four saves to record the win.
PNW returns to the pitch Friday afternoon with a home contest against GLIAC opponent Northern Michigan at 1:30 pm (CST).​
