WESTVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore Danielle Nennig (Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown) scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds, sophomore Tayler Vauters (Rockville, Ind./Riverton Parke) had 11 points and three steals while sophomore Lanie Allen (East Noble, Ind./East Noble) added 10 points as the Purdue University Northwest women’s basketball dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game to No. 7 Ashland, 112-68.

The Eagles (15-1, 7-1 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (2-12, 0-8 GLIAC), at the H.D. Kesling Gymnasium inside the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex Saturday.

Ashland went ahead 21-13 early in the first quarter before PNW made a 10-4 run to end the quarter thanks to a layup by freshman Kelli Damman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) to make it 25-23 in favor of the Eagles.  Freshman Brittany Barnard (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) tied the game at 25 to start the second quarter.

The Eagles looked to make a run but Nennig cut it to 33-31 with her layup with 6:37 left in the second quarter.

Ashland controlled the game in the second half, shooting 61% from the field while the Pride shot 30%, however PNW was able to outscore Ashland from the free-throw line as the Pride shot 20-28 from the stripe,

Maddie Dackin led all scorers and the Eagles with 23 points.

PNW begins a three-game road stretch Thursday, January 17 as the Pride return to action to take on Ferris State starting 4:30 p.m. CT.
