Purdue Northwest Men’s Soccer Suffers Tough 1-0 Loss to Northwood
Midland, Mich. – A goal off a header by Zachary Bakos in the 50th minute of regulation proved to be the difference as the Purdue University Northwest men’s soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 rough loss to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Northwood University (Mich.) Friday afternoon at Dean Field in Midland, Mich.
The game-deciding goal was set up off a free kick by James Vaughan from the right side. The Pride out-shot the Timberwolves, 19-16, in the game, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Sophomore midfielder Jaime Garcia (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial), freshman midfielder Isaiah Nieves (Lyons Township, Ill./Lyons Township) and freshman forward Matt Bahena (Alsip, Ill./Eisenhower) each had two shots on goal in Friday’s game for PNW.
Senior Miguel David (San Diego,Calif./Bonita Vista) posted two saves for the Pride. Northwood improves to 5-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the GLIAC with Friday’s victory.
Purdue Northwest (3-4-1 overall/2-2-0 GLIAC) returns home to host Davenport University (Mich.) on Wednesday, October 4. The game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start at Pepsi Field at Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.
