Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin Earn Weekly Women’s Soccer Awards

Purdue’s Kylie Hase and Maddy Williams, Rutgers’ Casey Murphy and Wisconsin’s Caitlyn Clem are this week’s honorees

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Maddy Williams, Purdue

F – Sr. – Perrysburg, Ohio – Perrysburg

• Registered two goals and three assists last week as Purdue swept Big Ten road matches at Michigan and Michigan State

• Had a hand in five of Purdue’s goals in its 6-2 win at MSU, scoring twice and tying the school record with three assists and seven points

• Helped the Boilermakers open Big Ten play with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2008

• A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2014 and 2015

• Receives her third career Offensive Player of the Week honor and second of the season

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Casey Murphy, Rutgers

GK – Jr. – Bridgewater, N.J. – Bridgewater-Raritan

• Made four saves in Rutgers’ 2-0 win over visiting Maryland on Sunday in the Big Ten opener for both schools

• Posted her eighth shutout in as many matches this season, ranking second in the nation in that category

• Leads a Rutgers squad that remains the only school in the country that has not allowed a goal this year

• Garnered Academic All-Big Ten accolades in 2015

• Collects her eighth career Defensive Player of the Week award and third this season

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Caitlyn Clem, Wisconsin

GK – Sr. – Okemos, Mich. – Okemos

• Recorded four saves to help Wisconsin earn a 1-0 overtime win over defending Big Ten Champion Minnesota last Saturday

• Credited with her fifth shutout of the season

• Earns her second career Defensive Player of the Week award and second this season

• Last Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week: Caitlyn Clem (Sept. 5, 2017)

 

Freshman of the Week

Kylie Hase, Purdue

M – Orland Park, Ill. – Carl Sandburg

• Scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute of Purdue’s 1-0 win at Michigan last Thursday before leading the Boilermakers’ offense to a 6-2 win at Michigan State on Sunday

• Helped the Boilermakers to their first-ever win at Michigan and its first 1-0 road victory since Sept. 2013 at Ohio State

• Receives her first Freshman of the Week honor
