No. 22 Southeastern Drops First Conference Contest at No. 22 Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. – On a night where the shots just were not falling for the Fire, and the opponent could not miss, the No. 11 Southeastern University men’s basketball team fell to the No. 22 Warner University Royals 103-69 for their first Sun Conference loss of the season.

The Royals shot plus 60% from the field in each half, while shooting an even 50% from three-point range on the night (9-18).

On the flip side, the Fire suffered a tough first half of shooting (11-34 FG, 0-4 3PT) and committed 13 turnovers throughout the first 20 minutes of play.

Warner opened the game on a 13-0 run, which proved to be a deficit Southeastern would not be able to overcome.

The Fire continued to battle throughout the first half. Specifically, Isaiah Moody found success taking the ball to the rim. Moody scored 12 of his team-high 22 points in the first half.

SEU trailed WU 48-27 heading into the half, the largest halftime deficit for the Fire this season.

The dynamic night of shooting continued for Warner in the second half. An 11-0 run midway through the second half put the contest out of reach.

Senior point guard Ismael Celestin finished the night with 17 points and three points.

The Fire look to bounce back on Saturday night, as they host the Webber International University Warriors in The Furnace at 7 p.m.
