Seven Lancers pick up postseason awards

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Wrapping up the 2017 season, seven members of Grace College’s baseball team were honored with athletic and academic awards.

Xavier Harris highlighted the postseason awards when he was named to the NCCAA Midwest All-Region Team. He set a single-season record at Grace with 11 home runs, batting .285 with 34 runs and 31 RBIs.

Additionally, five members of Grace’s team were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The five Scholar-Athletes represented the 16th-most in the nation and third-most in the Crossroads League.

Austin Baker, Chase Baker, Shay Hepler, Matthew Warren and Blake Converset all received the Scholar-Athlete distinction from the NAIA. The five players, along with Logan Grigsby, were also named NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.

To receive NAIA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
