RICHMOND, Ind – In a rematch of the 2018 NAIA Division II National Championship Round of 16, Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball fell once again, as No. 3 Southeastern defeated IWU 73-48.
SLOPPY PLAY
- Both teams coughed it up in the game one too many times, as IWU committed 30 and Southeastern committed 24 turnovers.
POOR START
- The Wildcats mustered just five points in the first quarter giving them a mountain they couldn’t climb out of. IWU would edge Southeastern in the second quarter scoring 20 points while SU scored 17.
WHALEY PERSPECTIVE
- This was a game of runs. There were spurts when we were disciplined and tough. Unfortunately, SEU was tougher and more disciplined over the course of 40 minutes. We’re looking forward to coming home and playing in the Leah Whittaker. It’s always a great atmosphere and even more inspiration when we remember the legacy that Leah left in our program. Our goal is that all 14 players play with the unselfishness that Leah displayed in all that she did.
NEXT TIME OUT
- IWU returns home Friday and Saturday hosting Holy Cross and Lawrence Tech in the Leah Whittaker Memorial Classic.
