Southwest Baptist, UIndy, Missouri S&T Garner Weekly Football Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Southwest Baptist University junior quarterback TJ Edwards, University of Indianapolis senior lineman Dillon Dallas, and Missouri S&T junior defensive back/returner Roderick Chapman have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TJ Edwards, Southwest Baptist
Jr., QB, Garland, Texas

Team Result: 52-29 home win vs. William Jewell

Threw for 390 yards and three touchdowns (49, 22, 17 yards) on 34-of-42 passing (.810)

Rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown (15 yards)

Moved into second all-time in GLVC history with 8,839 total yards

Improved to third all-time in GLVC history with 7,443 passing yards

Effort marked the second time in school history with three different receivers with over 100 yards receiving each

Earns his fifth career Offensive Player of the Week award (9,12/16, 10/3/16, 10/24/16, 10/16/17)

Last Southwest Baptist Offensive Player of the Week:  Bubba Jenkins (11/7/16)

 

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dillon Dallas, Indianapolis
Sr., DL, Bargersville, Indiana

Team Result: 55-0 home win vs. Quincy

Led a defensive effort that held Quincy to zero points and 142 yards of total offense

Finished with four tackles (all solo), three for loss, one sack, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery on separate play

Helped Greyhounds to their first shutout since 2013

Earns his first career Defensive Player of the Week award

Last Indianapolis Defensive Player of the Week:  Cole Sigmund (10/9/17)

 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Roderick Chapman, Missouri S&T
Jr., DB/PR/KR, Los Angeles, California

Team Result: 37-3 win at Lincoln

Totaled 78 yards on three returns, including a 22-yard punt return and 29-yard kickoff return

Aforementioned 29-yard kickoff return into Lincoln territory set up an ensuing touchdown

Also recorded two interceptions on the day, including one returned 32 yards for a touchdown

Earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week award

Last Missouri S&T Special Teams Player of the Week:  Ben Styron (9/4/17)
