HOT OFF THE PRESS

Greenfield Central will have a new face on the sidelines after the combination of Adam Sherman and Stephen Speer stepped down. Sherman compiled a 9-17 mark over his two-plus seasons, while Speer ended with a 0-5 mark over the second half of this year.

North Central (Farmersburg) claimed its first sectional crown with a 14-0 blanking of West Washington in the Class 1A Sectional 48 affair. Other teams coming up short in their attempt to come out on top for the first time were Anderson, Maconaquah, Sullivan, Boone Grove, Union City, and Traders Point Christian

Dave Pasch earned his 150th career win with Indianapolis Lutheran’s 32-13 victory over Hagerstown in the Class 1A Sectional 46 final.

Decatur Central ended Indianapolis Cathedral’s run of 12 consecutive sectional titles with a 21-14 triumph over the Irish in the Class 5A Sectional 13 finale.

There were 27 repeat sectional winners and eight teams (Penn, Fishers, Kokomo, Indianapolis Cathedral, Mississinewa, Greenwood, Providence, and Southwood) which lost in their quest for another title.
