Three GLVC Football Standouts Named D2CCA All-Americans
INDIANAPOLIS – One week after Quincy University senior linebacker Cody Leonard was named a second-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year was joined by two other standouts on the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-America teams, released Wednesday by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Truman State University sophomore return specialist Lawrence Woods – the GLVC Special Teams Player of the Year – earned first-team All-America honors, Leonard was tabbed as a first-team linebacker, and Missouri S&T senior Bo Brooks picked up second-team accolades at linebacker.
This marks the first season the GLVC has boasted three D2CCA All-Americans as the previous best was two back in 2015 and 2016. The league did earn three All-America nods from the AFCA last season.
Seven GLVC standouts earned D2CCA All-Super Region 3 honors this year, including four first-team honorees in Brooks, Leonard and Woods, as well as University of Indianapolis sophomore running back Al McKeller – the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year. Second-team laurels went to UIndy sophomore offensive lineman Clay Hadley and Missouri S&T senior wideout Braxton Graham and senior cornerback Roderick Chapman.
