Trojans Lead Wire-to-Wire in Blowout of East-West

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor netted the first 10 points of the evening against East-West inside Odle Arena on Tuesday and was never challenged in the 90-62 victory, as it extended its win streak to three-straight games.

TU knocked down its first five shots in the contest and connected on nine of its first 10 attempts to bolt to leads of 13-2 and 22-8. The Trojans maintained a double-digit lead over the final 34:49 of the contest and held a lead of at least 20 points for the final 6:49 of regulation.

The Trojans shot 52.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from deep, while assisting on 19-of-31 field goals. TU had seven players with at least seven points in the win and outscored the Phantoms (2-23) by a 38-20 margin off the bench.

Mason Degenkolb led the scoring for TU with 21 points, while also dishing out four assists and Vincent Miranda followed with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jake Heggeland also cracked double figures with 13 points and seven boards, while Evan Crowe closed with 10 points.

CJ Penha flirted with a double-double by pulling down nine rebounds to go with eight points and Ryan Robinson finished with eight points, six assists and two steals.

Taylor turned in another impressive defensive outing and has now held its opponent below the 70-point plateau in each game during its three-game win streak. During that stretch, the Trojans have allowed only 65.7 points per game on 36.1-percent shooting and a 27.3-percent rate from three-point range.

The Trojans (7-8) will look to keep rolling when they host Kentucky Christian (2-16) on Friday at 7:00 pm.
